MAPUTO:
Is the capital of Mozambique with a population of about 2 million.
It’s a city renowned for its colonial Portuguese architecture with
broad and leafy avenues and a friendly atmosphere, excellent hotels, restaurants
and an exciting nightlife.
The major attraction of Mozambique is the coast, making it one of the best
beach holidays in Southern Africa.
BAZARUTO ARCHIPELAGO:
The Bazaruto Archipelago consists in five islands: Bazaruto, Benguera,
Magaruque, Santa Carolina and Bangué. They are situated more
than 10 km offshore from Vilankulo.
Bazaruto used to trade with Arabs and Portuguese, as earlier as 16th
century, with its pearls and ambergris.
Nowadays, the Archipelago is a national park, which protects the habitat
for numerous bird species, turtles and more than 200 species of fish,
including the endangered dugong.

The
islands offer sandy beaches, turquoise waters and coral reefs with
abundant marine life making diving, snorkelling or fishing, some of
the main activities.
QUIRIMBAS
ARCHIPELAGO:
Situated further north in the Mozambique’s coast only reachable
by boat or private air charter from Pemba. The Quirimbas Archipelago
consists
of 32 coral islands stretching from Pemba (capital of Cabo Delgado Province)
to the Rovuma river, the border with Tanzania.
The small town of Ibo lies on the island of the same name. Ibo is one of
the most ancient towns in Mozambique. The islands were occupied by Muslim
traders before the 15th century.
Only few of the islands are inhabited and recently some hotels have been
developed in Matemo, Medjumbe and Quilalea islands.
